Association ‘Society without Borders’ was officially registered in late 2008 but its core has been active since spring 2007, when the publication of a monthly student magazine ‘Sparnai’ (‘The Wings’) began. A year later the first National Olympiad in Political Science was organised, and the original members of the group decided to apply for the status of a legal entity.

Association ‘Society without Borders’ is a non-profit organisation, which unites young people of different ideologies and allegiances, interested in politics, culture, and social issues in the broad sense, not only from Lithuania but also from other countries. Its members aim to encourage a more active public life, to assist scientific, civic, cultural, and artistic initiatives of young people, to contribute to the development of critical and analytic thinking among young people as well as the knowledge of both domestic and international political processes, to promote human rights and freedoms, to emphasise the perception of human dignity and value, to stimulate the interest of young people in Lithuanian and European political and cultural history as well as contemporary issues and predictions for the future.

The main activities of the association are publication of magazines and other material both in print and online, organising seminars, conferences, public discussions, competitions, educational programmes and other events, and providing institutional support for initiatives by young people.

In order to achieve the aforementioned goals, association ‘Society without Borders’ aims to cooperate with similar NGOs in Lithuania and abroad as well as with governmental bodies, cultural and artistic institutions, the media, and businesses.
